Production in Malta moves into new premises

February 2016

On the 24th of February 2016, the Prime Minister of Malta Joseph Muscat inaugurated the new production facility in the industrial area of Bulebel in the presence of Dr Rainer Dulger, Managing Partner and Managing Director Operations of the ProMinent group of companies, and numerous invited guests from Maltese politics and business.

50 of the overall 120 employees of ProMinent Fluid Controls Ltd., the Maltese subsidiary of the ProMinent group of companies, work in the new building, which has a production space of about 2,400 sqm and 600 sqm of office space. The introduction of new process technologies and organisational structures for a sustainable growth of this strategic production site required the relocation.

After 2011, this is the second step in the company’s ongoing expansion process to move into more modern and larger premises. Besides administration offices, the new building now contains the diaphragm production and the injection moulding of plastic components. Five years ago, the manufacturing of electronic parts and sensors already moved to another building.

The Prime Minister of Malta Joseph Muscat emphasizes in his inauguration speech the importance of this successful development: “The confidence of Professor Doctor h.c. Viktor Dulger, founder and today Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the ProMinent group of companies, in the ability of Maltese employees to live up to the challenges of global competition is well known. If this was not so, the work force of ProMinent in Malta would not have grown from 10 when it started operations in 1989 to the current 120.”

Malta is one of the 12 production sites of the ProMinent group of companies with headquarters in Heidelberg, Germany. ProMinent Fluid Controls Ltd. was founded in 1989 by Professor Doctor h.c. Viktor Dulger and subsequently headed by Dr Albert Friggieri as Managing Director. At that time, the production of glass sensors and an electronic unit for metering pumps started with ten employees trained in Heidelberg. Under the management of the present General Manager Dr Conrad Pace, today the employees pass several training programmes mainly on-site. Furthermore, there are many projects carried out in collaboration with various renowned institutes, including the University of Malta and the Malta College of Arts Science and Technology.
