Chlorine Dioxide Produced for the First Time with PVDF Reactors

ProMinent ProMaqua presents an innovation at this years IFAT trade fair: the Bello Zon® CDVc Chlorine Dioxide system. A completely new reactor concept guarantees chlorine dioxide is produced and metered in an innovative process. Food-safe PVDF is used for the first time instead of PVC that, to date, has been in widespread use in this sector.

This new development contributes to higher operational reliability and improved purity of the chlorine dioxide produced. The integrated system controller ensures precision production of the chlorine dioxide and accurate metering of the disinfectant. At the same time, it registers and documents all parameters specific to water treatment. The controller can monitor and manage up to 14 measuring stations and up to 14 metering stations simultaneously.

Bello Zon CDVcWith the newly developed Bello Zon® CDVc the Heidelberg-based manufacturer sets the standards for chlorine dioxide production of the future. Using PVDF for the first time has given rise to a new reactor concept: Whereas to date only PVC could be used for the reactor in chlorine dioxide systems, advancements in design have now made it possible to use food-safe PDVF. Contaminations caused by PVC are steadily excluded. The increased pureness of the generated chlorine dioxide enhances the operational reliability. In addition the operational reliability will be increased by using stroke-length monitored pumps. The stroke-length monitoring increases operational reliability by ensuring reproducible accuracy of metered quantities.

For up to 14 measuring and metering stations

However, the Bello Zon® CDVc is not only the yardstick when it comes to chlorine dioxide production but, with the integration of a system controller ProMaqua, also sets the standards for future water treatment applications. The central controller with a range of versatile measurement and control functions makes the CDVc a complete chlorine dioxide system ready for connection to produce, meter and monitor chlorine dioxide at rates from 20 to 2,000 g/h.
The new CDVc renders unnecessary additional measurement and control devices such as data loggers, as required in conventional systems, as they are already integrated in the system controller.
The system guarantees precise and reproducible production of chlorine dioxide while also accurately recording and documenting all water treatment parameters such as chlorine dioxide and chlorite concentrations, pH-value, conductivity and temperature. Using ProMinent's online measuring method, chlorine dioxide and chlorite concentration can be measured selectively and continuously, i.e. round the clock. This means real-time measurements are possible for the first time in water treatment applications.
The CDVc system controller can monitor and manage up to 14 measuring and metering stations simultaneously. The metering stations can be controlled independently and supplied from a central supply tank.
The controller is equipped with a ¼ inch VGA colour screen, integrated data logger and screen recorder.
A range of most commonly used interfaces and WEB servers allows flexible integration of the Bello Zon® CDVc in control and visualisation systems.
The plain text user prompting feature ensures simple and safe operation.
Possible applications for the Bello Zon® CDVc chlorine dioxide system include drinking water and waste water treatment, legionalla prevention, production and process water treatment in the food and beverage industry as well as cooling water treatment.
